About the film festival
JAPANNUAL - Japanese Film Festival in Vienna
JAPANNUAL strives to present the latest Japanese filmmaking trends and introduce the
relevant film productions of the current year to an interested Viennese audience. The
film festival focuses on a wide range of new cinematic works from Japanese directors
and is not limited to narrative features but includes a selection of documentaries, shorts
and experimental works.
All films selected are shown for the first time in Austria, sometimes even European and
International premieres. Audience members at Japannual can vote for the honorary
Japannual Audience Award.
