COMPLY+-ANCE
Up-and-coming actress Sairi sits down for an interview with a camera crew at a coffee shop. But as the crew becomes increasingly cautious about what can and cannot be shared publicly during the pandemic, a growing list of restrictions and compliances begins to turn the interview into an absurd ordeal. As her frustration mounts, the line between what she wants to express and what she is allowed to say becomes increasingly blurred.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Takumi Saitoh 齊藤 工
Takumi Saitoh is an actor, filmmaker, and producer. His first feature film as a director, blank13, won eight awards in Japan and abroad, including the Best New Director Award at the Shanghai International Film Festival. In 2020, he wrote and directed COMPLY+-ANCE, which won Best Director and Best Film at the Los Angeles Japanese Film Festival. His short film Balancer won Best Film at the Oregon Short Film Festival. He also directed Life in a Box for HBO Asia’s Food Lore, which won him Best Director at the Asian Academy Creative Awards. His subsequent directing work includes Home Sweet Home (2023). As an actor, he has continued to appear in a wide range of film and television projects, including Shin Godzilla, Shin Ultraman, and Bullet Train Explosion.
