Welcome to the wonderful world of Japanese contemporary cinema!
These films were accepted with warm welcome by the festival crowds around the world. Although we do not distribute these films, we want to introduce you to the wonderful Japanese films - independent or not - that recently screened at selected international film festivals. For those that we could find streaming distributions in the US, we tried to include that information as well. (Sadly, there aren’t many.) Some are available on discs as well. Our hope is that this page stimulates your curiosity and be your help to explore more Japanese films that you might not have known existed.
This page is growing! (thanks to our tireless staff who is a fast typist and fast learner.) We admit this list is not a “database” and you may find imperfection or missing films from a certain year. If you do, please let us know! This part of the platform is meant to be built together with the community. Your generous help is much valued and appreciated.
