Family Parting

“Let’s handle Grandma’s funeral ourselves.” With a single remark from their father, the Muraoka family sets out to handle the funeral on their own. But as they scramble to make it happen, one unbelievable event after another unfolds. Will they be able to fulfill their father’s wish? Based on a true story.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Tetsuji Muraoka 村岡 哲至

Tetsuji Muraoka is a Japanese actor and filmmaker. He graduated from Tohoku University with a Ph.D., and completed the NNT Drama Studio at the New National Theatre, Tokyo. In 2020, he co-founded the family-based creative unit Muraoka House of Expression Family and began making short films featuring his own family. In 2025, MError, which he directed, wrote, edited, and starred in, won the Second Prize at the 24th Tateshina Highlands Film Festival Short Film Competition.
