I Think I'll Stay There

A young teacher Manabu returns to his hometown for the funeral of a former classmate, reuniting with two high school friends he has not seen in years. As they travel together to the memorial service, forgotten memories of their youth resurface, leaving Manabu to confront the uneasy gap between who they once were and who they have become.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Takayuki Hayashi 林 隆行

Takayuki Hayashi was born in Kyoto, Japan. He directed Asakusa Smile (浅草スマイル), which won the Yukihiko Tsutsumi Award at the 1st Unfinished Film Trailer Awards. His film Emotion (情動, 2020) received the Special Jury Prize at the 15th Tanabe-Benkei Film Festival. He has also directed numerous commercials for brands including FRISK, LINE, and Bandai Namco. Working across film, drama, stage, and other forms of visual expression, Hayashi focuses on the subtle emotional aspects of his characters and storytelling.
