Shiraishi (The Blood of Wolves, Dare to Stop Us) is back with a dark, multilayered meditation on the stigma of violence and scars that fail to heal. His first exploration into the family dynamic, it stars Satoh Takeru, Suzuki Ryohei and Matsuoka Mayu as siblings traumatized by a shocking act of desperation, parental abandonment and, in adulthood, dead-end dreams. Probing complex moral dilemmas, hitting dramatic depths and heights, the film opens on the stormy night that changes everything. Only after an unexpected reunion and ensuing revelations does the rain begin to lift. (Synopsis from New York Asian Film Festival)
